SAMMAMISH FAMILY ROOM REMODEL

Craig was referred to us by friends who had done a significant remodel of their home.  When Craig and our architect met for the first time the chemistry amongst all of us was great.  We reviewed the plans, asked questions and Craig left to prepare a bid.  When the bid arrived it was as expected for a job of this size, fair and precise.  We agreed and the project began.  It was always fun to have Craig and his "down under" crew in our home.  Tea was a bigger hit in the morning than coffee.  They were on time, neat and great craftsmen.  In spite of the normal challenges of a remodel, the job was completed on time with a quality that matched the remainder of our home.  With one minor adjustment that was agreed to in advance, our progress payment and final bill was as agreed upon when the job was bid.  I have and would certainly continue to recommend Craig Sim to our friends.

Mid-Century Update

We recently remodeled our main floor living space using Craig and his company with great results. We removed a large fireplace, took the walls and ceiling to the studs, and reconfigured our space to better suit our family of 5. Craig was able to give us a timeline for our project that was realistic and he was able to keep to it. Craig and his team were wonderful to work with and we are recommending him to our friends.

Greenlake Kitchen Remodel

Craig Sim (CS Construction) remodeled our kitchen for us in the Spring of 2011. This was the last phase in a 6 year process of doubling the size and remodeling our existing 1907 Greenlake home from the ground up (foundation to roof and everything in between). As such, we have had a lot of experience with contractors. Craig distinguished himself right from the beginning with his professionalism. His listened to us, understood our vision, and included us in every decision along the way. He arrived on time on the day he was scheduled to begin and completed each phase of the project within the projected time frame. As this was a remodel of an older home, there were unforeseen complications hidden in the 100-year-old walls. Craig dealt with these complications in a collaborative fashion, and still managed to complete the project on time and within budget. Craig was very pleasant to work with and patient, even in our bustling household of 3 curious children under age 5. Most importantly, Craig is meticulous, consistent, and efficient in his work. Our kitchen turned out beautifully! We would certainly hire him again, and recommend him for any remodel project.

Garden House

Craig and his crew (CS Construction) did an outstanding job building my garden house. The designs evolved during the process, yet he provided practical solutions that supported my intentions – the outcome is wonderful. He kept the site clean and always provided me with realistic expectations regarding the schedule. If I ever have another project I won't hesitate to contact Craig again, he was a pleasure to work with and his accent isn't bad either!

Condo remodel on Queen Anne

In December 2010 I hired Craig Sim (CS Construction) to remodel the two bathrooms in my condo, as a first step of more to follow. Craig had provided me with an estimate I found acceptable and introduced to me the plumber and the tile person who would be part of the job. New tiles , new cabinets, accessories and lights were installed and in one of the bathrooms the tub was replaced by a shower. New doors and paint, The result was very good, so later we proceeded with more work. Old cabinets and floor were removed in the kitchen and new tiles were installed on the floor and walls. We were then confronted with an unexpected problem and Craig was able to construct a solution which actually turned out to be very nice. Craig installed the new cabinets and lights as a real expert, new appliances were installed. Next new tiles for the fireplace and mantelpiece and then the entire carpet floor was removed and replaced with wood. New doors and finally the entire unit was painted.

Craig and his people always came right on time, Craig was always prompt in answering my questions either on the phone or by email. They took precautions to protect the common areas and as much as possible the stuff in the condo (lots of dust), cleaned up at the end of the day and promptly took stuff to the dump. The entire job was finished in the time given in the contract.

I was very happy with the result of the job and I appreciated how Craig organized and supervised the work of his team. I had lots of compliments from friends who came to see the work done and I definitely recommend Craig and his team to whomever is considering a remodel.

Ballard Dream Remodel

Craig Sim and CS Construction helped make our dreams come true! Craig built us our dream house in 2010. We went from a 1700 sq.ft. single story with basement Ballard Bungalow to a 3100 two story home including basement.  Craig and CS Construction were fantastic from the beginning and instilled us with confidence that we could have the home that was designed for us.  Our previous contractor had several struggles, including coming in significantly higher than the budget.  Craig excelled in this area and worked with us closely, quickly and efficiently to meet our budgetary needs before our home appraisal expired. Craig's confidence in his ability to take on our complete home remodel/rebuild and his straightforward yet gentle personality put us at ease for the entire project and the process. From start to finish, Craig communicated with us daily, listened to us and provided feedback as needed. Furthermore, Craig never seemed to be bothered by our daily check-ins on the house, questions, or change orders. Craig completed our home within budget and on-schedule!

One thing that we think separates Craig and CS Construction apart from other contractors we have worked with is Craig's relationship with his subcontractors. Many of the subs are also good friends, which we believe helped the project move more smoothly, while keeping the quality of the work to a high standard. Each sub was accountable to each other as colleagues and friends; and therefore they worked together rather than blaming each other when something didn't go smoothly. After we moved back into the house we had Craig, our architect, and all the subcontractors over to say thank you, and there was such a camaraderie among all of them that we knew we could not have picked a better team to build our dream home. All of these individuals were not only invested in the work they did on our home, but we also felt as if they were invested in helping our family. They all got to know us and our children and treated our kids with unconditional kindness.

In the year after we moved into the house, as with all new homes, houses settle and small things pop up. We have heard stories about contractors who couldn't be reached or had poor follow-through once the final check was signed. This was never our experience with Craig. We have never hesitated about calling Craig to come and fix something or to ask for a recommendation about how to manage something. He has always been open, honest, and unbelievably responsive to us, even when he was on vacation out of the country.  We could go on and on about how great Craig and his crew are, however the most telling sign is that we will go to Craig for any future projects and have recommended him enthusiastically to everyone we know.
